Stand-Alone Card Readers

Stand-Alone Card Readers work to allow access with greater security than a keypad where the code can be given out freely, or transmitters where the signal can be copied. Cards are individually numbered and programmed so that they are not easy to be duplicated and can be done as a magnetic stripe, a mechanical card, a touchplate card, or a proximity card. Proximity cards are available in multiple formats including HID, AWID, Secura Key, Sentex, Passport, DK Prox, and DK ProxPlus. If a card, tag, or fob is lost or stolen it can be deleted at the reader itself. Programming is done without the use of a separate door controller or computer software, but often a report can be printed out at the card reader itself through a RS232 serial printer port connection.
